After a bumpy 12-hour fight, a decision by Ohio’s health director and a ruling by the Ohio Supreme Court, Ohio is not voting in-person today.
If you have already voted—you’re done!
If you have not already voted, here is the best information we have now from the Secretary of State:
- In-person voting will take place on June 2nd.
- Ohioans can request an absentee ballot up until May 26th. They must be postmarked no later than June 1st.
- All votes already submitted by mail or in-person will count.
- Only those registered to vote by the primary deadline of February 17th are eligible to vote.
Vote by Mail
Ohio has “no-excuse” absentee voting. This means anybody can vote by mail without special circumstances. First, you need to request a ballot with this form (or in Spanish). We encourage you to do this as soon as possible in light of the changing and dynamic circumstances. Once you receive your official ballot, complete it and get it back in the mail as soon as possible. The situation has already changed more than once, and the sooner you get it in, the sooner your vote counts.
None of this is ideal, I know. But together, we can still shape our democracy with our vote and stay healthy. It just will take a little longer.
We will continue to monitor the situation.
